Borneo International Marathon : All Different, All Able, All In - Running Together For #thisability

Changing perceptions, attitudes and behaviours about children with disabilities one stride at a time. This is the theme and a goal of Borneo International Marathon this year.

“My dream for the future is to see a world free of barriers. I want to participate in everything my friends do – as if I were one of them.” These are the words of Sharone, 14, who lives in Sabah and has cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder, which affects her movement and muscle coordination.

Last May in Kota Kinabalu, Sharone along with over 400 other children with disabilities participated in a special 3KM run as part of the Borneo International Marathon. The marathon route was designed so that the children and their families on the 3KM run converged with the 10,000 runners from other categories in the final dash for the finish in Likas Stadium. This was not a charity run.
